The Story: Established on June 30, 1931, by a collective of 98 pioneering winegrowers, the Cave des Vignerons de Buxy is an absolute gold standard for cooperative winemaking in Burgundy. Rather than producing generic bulk wine, this collective operates with extreme precision, carefully monitoring and harvesting individual estate plots. Their "Buissonnier" line is a proud showcase of regional identity. Montagny sits at the southernmost tip of the Côte Chalonnaise, where the vineyards are defined by heavy clay-limestone soils. To let the authentic voice of this terroir sing, the winemakers ferment and mature this wine entirely in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. By completely bypassing oak barrels, they trap the raw, vibrant purity of the fruit, proving that white Burgundy can be deeply elegant, accessible, and an incredible value.

Why You'll Love Me: It is crisp, beautifully balanced, and wonderfully refreshing, bursting with clear, unoaked energy. It pours a brilliant light straw-gold color in the glass. The nose is highly expressive and complex, opening with an inviting basket of green apples, Anjou pears, and fresh lemon zest, quickly evolving to show off more exotic fruit notes, white peach, and a sophisticated touch of blanched almond or hazelnut. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a supple, surprisingly round texture that fills out the mouth beautifully. That initial richness is immediately swept clean by a precise, zesty acidity and a chalky, wet-stone mineral spine, leading into a long, dry, and slightly spicy finish laced with white-tea leaf freshness.
