I am from: Providence, Rhode Island, USA
The Story: Reclaiming a century-long legacy of manufacturing inside an industrial corridor, this contemporary, small-batch spirit is a hallmark producer from The Industrious Spirit Company (ISCO)—Providence’s very first post-Prohibition distillery. The location is legendary because it pays direct homage to the hallowed grounds it sits upon: a historic, converted metal foundry that forged structural and ornamental steel for over 100 years. Embodying New England’s gritty industrial past and modern creative soul, the distillers craft the spirit entirely from scratch using a sustainable, 100% organic, non-GMO corn base. The liquid is slowly and carefully distilled alongside a proprietary bill of 16 hand-selected botanicals, sourcing key ingredients from a non-profit group that works directly with local immigrant and refugee farmers.
Why You'll Love Me: It balances a classic, pine-fresh juniper backbone with an incredibly seductive, bold and multi-layered floral-meet-spice edge. Breaking traditional rules with a highly imaginative botanical lineup—featuring unusual additions like passionflower, elderflower, cascade hops, star anise, cubeb pepper, and ginger—it bursts from the glass with lively aromas of deep licorice, honeyed floral blossoms, violet, and lavender. On the palate, it delivers a beautiful, uncommonly creamy full body that is instantly cut by a laser-beam core of mouthwatering anise, zesty lemon peel, and warming cinnamon heat. It gracefully sweeps into an extremely long, complex finish defined by a clean minerality, a touch of earthy cassia bark, and a signature hint of lingering, root-driven nuttiness.
