Tenuta Pierazzuoli 2022 Chianti Montalbano
Pairs with: Pasta pomodoro with basil
Good for: Exploring a different side of Chianti
Grape: Sangoivese
I am from: Chianti, Tuscany, Italy
The Story: Pierazzuoli is a legit old-school producer, making a little organic wine, raising a few goats and chickens, making some killer organic olive oil, and offering a few rooms to stay in and a little Osteria to eat heartily at. Dario Pierazzuoli focuses on the import/export business, Enrico Pierazzuoli runs agriculture/winemaking and their two sisters, Serena and Enrica, run the Osteria and agro-tourism for the two estates – Tenuta Cantagallo in Montalbano and Farnete in nearby Carmignano. The Cantagallo estate extends over 500 acres, with 60 acres planted to vines.
Why You'll Love Me: This balanced red offers an appealing mix of ripe cherry, and sweet wood smoke on the nose, with cherry and plum holding court on the palate, while the finish lingers with earthy cherry accents.
