The Story: Abrie Beeslaar’s first offering of this wine is going to make a lot of friends, in particular those who have an affinity for a well-made Pinotage. Abrie is regarded as the godfather of Pinotage in his native South Africa and his 2020 TAJ Pinotage is a beauty.
Why You'll Love Me: Vibrant notes of plum and dark chocolate jump out of the glass, leading into a medium-full palate with beautiful tones of dark red fruit and nicely-integrated tannins. With some time to breathe, it gains a silky texture. On the finish, there’s a savory note, adding layers of nuance that evokes blackberry bramble and mocha.
