I am from: Douro Valley, Portugal
The Story: Founded in 1880 by the visionary Adriano Ramos Pinto, this historic house has always balanced avant-garde artistry with profound tradition in the Douro. Unlike a "declared" Vintage Port that spends only two years in wood before aging for decades in the bottle, a Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) is crafted from a single excellent year but is left to mature in large oak vats for four to six years. This extended time in wood mellows the wine, meaning Ramos Pinto's LBV arrives in your glass fully mature, beautifully rounded, and completely ready to drink the moment you pull the cork.
Why You'll Love Me: It is intensely concentrated, brooding, and opulently full-bodied. It pours a dense, opaque ruby-black color and immediately floods the senses with a dark, majestic bouquet of ripe blackberries, black plums, and black cherries, seamlessly woven with notes of dark chocolate, licorice, and fresh mint. On the palate, it delivers a rich, velvety texture supported by robust, well-integrated tannins and a warming, spirit-driven finish that lingers elegantly for minutes.
