I am from: Toscana IGT, Tuscany, Italy (Sourced from estate-tended vineyards in Montepulciano, planted in sandy loam and clay soils rich in minerals).

The Story: Named "Leo" in homage to the historic origins of the estate—originally commissioned in the late 18th century as "Leopoldina" by Pietro Leopoldo, Grand Duke of Tuscany—Fattoria Svetoni carries a winemaking legacy that dates back to 1865. While the estate is celebrated for its classic Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, this IGT bottling provides a more immediate, flexible canvas for the region's terroir. Sourced from sun-dappled estate vines around Montepulciano, the hand-harvested fruit undergoes fermentation in stainless steel tanks with pump-overs to extract rich color and gentle tannins. The wine then matures in oak barrels of varying capacities before bottle refinement, harmonizing Sangiovese’s natural brightness with the plush fruit and supple structure of modern Tuscan winemaking.

Why You'll Love Me: It is a brilliantly balanced, velvety, and fruit-forward red that pairs radiant cherry character with subtle balsamic and licorice depth. In the glass, it pours a clear, bright ruby-red with delicate garnet reflections. The nose is soft, inviting, and persistent, opening with an expressive bouquet of ripe dark cherries, black plums, and wild blackberries, elegantly layered over top notes of licorice, sweet tobacco, and dried Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it glides with a smooth, medium-bodied stride; a succulent core of dark fruit is supported by fine-grained, integrated tannins and a lively beam of refreshing acidity. Clean, harmonious, and endlessly drinkable, it finishes with a trailing note of dark berry, gentle oak spice, and a persistent, stone-dust mineral snap.
