The Story: Muri Gries is an ancient monastery located just south of the Brenner Pass in Alto Adige, where you will find some of the world’s best Pinot Grigio. It remains a working Benedictine monastery that began producing DOC wines in 1947, and is now well-known to Italian wine-loving insiders.
Why You'll Love Me: Pours a straw-like yellow with a tempting bouquet of ripe Williams pears, herbs and green tea. The body is spicy, nutty and slightly buttery and nutty. A full-bodied and well-structured wine, it winds things up with a long and slightly bitter finish, evoking some of the same tea-like characteristics that it had hinted at up front.
