Longavi 2020 País Glup Bio-Bio Valley
Pairs with: Wild mushroom risotto
Good for: When the mood calls for something light yet funky.
I am from: Bio-Bio Valley, Chile
The Story: Longaví is the personal project of two friends from different continents who came together in 2012 to produce wines together, Chilean Julio Bouchon and South African David Nieuwoudt. Julio, a descendant of a French wine pioneer who arrived in Chile in 1887, is the producer, and David, owner of Cederberg, one of the most prestigious wineries in South Africa, is the winemaker.
Their País comes from an incredible and wild farm near Yumbel. Growing in sandy volcanic soil, this wine comes from vines that are more than 100 years old.
Why You’ll Love Me: Simply put, this easy-drinking red is full of character, exuding notes of fresh fruit and wild herbs on the nose, leading to a juicy palate with great texture that reveals a unique sense of place. Native yeasts add a latent character of earthiness and add structure, making this versatile and light-bodied wine an ideal dinner companion.
