The Story: Founded by Sean Lawson in 2008 as a tiny, one-barrel operation in a Vermont shed, Lawson's Finest Liquids quickly gained a rabid, devoted following. Fans would drive hundreds of miles and wait in massive lines just to get a taste of his highly coveted hop-forward ales. To keep up with the overwhelming demand without sacrificing his exacting standards, Lawson partnered with Two Roads Brewing in Stratford, Connecticut, to brew a brand-new recipe inspired by his legendary Double Sunshine. Launched in 2014, Sip of Sunshine took the craft beer world by storm. It perfectly bridged the gap between West Coast pine and New England juice, solidifying its status as an absolute icon of the modern American craft beer movement.
Why You'll Love Me: It is a vibrant, world-class Double IPA that manages to be dangerously drinkable despite its robust 8.0% ABV. It pours a glowing, slightly hazy golden-orange in the glass beneath a towering, creamy white head. The nose is an absolute tropical vacation—bursting with aromatic waves of fresh pineapple, sweet mango, apricot, and bright floral notes. On the palate, it delivers a masterful balance. A dense, slightly sweet malt backbone perfectly supports the aggressive, juicy hop profile, sending rich flavors of mandarin orange and sweet citrus across the tongue before coasting into a snappy, piney, and beautifully resinous finish.
