The Story: Lautus, Latin for pure, elegant, and sumptuous, creates non-alcoholic wines out of lush vineyards in South Africa. An involved, traditional winemaking process precedes dealcoholization, taking great care to ensure the wine is equally as complex and enjoyable as its alcoholic counterpart. The Lautus Savvy Red is a blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pinotage harvested in the coastal region of South Africa. Certain grapes are picked early to provide optimal acidity, while the rest are harvested at their peak point of ripeness. The wine is then aged for 9-12 months in oak barrels before being twice passed through a gentle spinning cone technology: once to capture and preserve the wine’s aromas and flavors, and again to remove the alcohol content.
Why You'll Love Me: Pours a luminous dark red in the glass. A medium body serves up red fruit, blackberry flavors, and a bit of oak held together by fine tannins and a pleasing, dry finish.
