The Story: Founded in 1820 by brothers William and John Graham, this iconic house is renowned for producing the richest, most opulent style of Vintage Port. Unlike a Tawny Port that ages for decades in wood, a Declared Vintage Port is the absolute pinnacle of production, made only in the most exceptional years (representing less than 2% of all Port). The legendary 2007 vintage was defined by a unusually cool, damp summer followed by a perfect, sun-drenched September. Winemakers Peter and Charles Symington used traditional foot-treading alongside robotic lagares to extract massive structure, aging the liquid for just two years in seasoned wood before bottling it completely unfiltered to mature slowly in the cellar.
Why You'll Love Me: It is an absolute powerhouse—immensely deep, voluptuous, and majestic. It pours a profound, opaque purple-black color. The nose is spectacularly complex and aromatic, unfurling with intense notes of wild blackberries, plum preserves, and black cherries, seamlessly woven with distinct, elegant streaks of fresh violets, eucalyptus, and dark cocoa. On the palate, it delivers an explosion of juicy, mouth-filling dark fruit balanced by a massive core of firm, ultra-fine tannins and vibrant acidity. It leaves you with a monumental, seemingly endless finish of licorice, black tea, and warming spice.
