I am from: Reuilly AOC, Central Loire Valley, France.

The Story: While nearby Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé snatch up the mainstream spotlight, the historic, eastern Loire appellation of Reuilly has been quietly experiencing a brilliant modern renaissance. Standing at the absolute center of this movement is Domaine de Reuilly, established by the visionary Denis Jamain and now dynamically ushered into the future by talented winemaker Joseph de Maistre. Denis originally returned to his family's estate with a singular obsession: to unlock the pure, uninhibited voice of their unique terroir. Recognizing that his vineyards sit atop the exact same prestigious, fossil-rich Kimmeridgian limestone and clay soils found in Chablis and Burgundy, he shifted the entire 17-hectare estate to strict organic and biodynamic viticulture. For this hallmark estate rouge, the hand-harvested fruit is handled with a remarkably gentle touch and aged entirely in stainless steel vats. By intentionally omitting any oak influence, the winemaking team allows the grape's natural, vibrant fruit and the soil's distinct stony personality to speak with absolute clarity.

Why You'll Love Me: It is light, wonderfully lithe, and refreshingly energetic—the ultimate "bistro-style" red that prioritizes crisp, crunchy fruit and mouthwatering alpine tension. It pours a beautiful, translucent garnet-ruby color in the glass. The nose is aromatically high-toned and instantly inviting, bursting with a fresh basket of red cherries, wild raspberries, and tart cranberries, beautifully underlined by delicate notes of fresh violets, blood orange peel, and a whisper of white pepper. On the palate, it hits with a graceful, light-to-medium-bodied frame defined by ultra-soft, barely-there tannins and a laser-sharp beam of cool-climate acidity. Flavors of bright red fruits and subtle garden herbs glide effortlessly across the tongue, sailing into a remarkably clean, savory finish highlighted by a signature, chalky mineral snap.
