The Story: The La Clef du Récit ("The Key to the Story") estate was created in 2012 in the town of Vinon, located south of Sancerre. After numerous experiences in the universe of vines and wine, Anthony Girard took possession of the keys to a wine estate in the hamlet of Récy, located in the town of Vinon to the south-east of the Sancerre appellation, opposite Pouilly-sur-Loire.
Thus started the beginning of a beautiful story for this estate called La Clef du Récit, which over the seasons has revealed the passion of a young wine grower. Anthony runs the estate through rigorous work in the vineyard whilst respecting the soil and the environment in order to harvest grapes at their peak.
Quincy is often referred to as Sancerre's little brother (even though it was the first region in the Loire to acquire AOC status -- in 1936) and the description is more than apt. The appellation lines the banks of the Cher, near Bourges, taking in plateaus of sandy-clay gravel and limestone.
Why You'll Love Me: Look for enticing notes of sweet summer lemon, flint, and lemongrass on a mineral-driven nose, with a beguiling element of sweet white flowers as well. Friendly and approachable on the palate -- citrus-forward without being too tangy -- a sublime combination of flavors evoking lime zest, apricot and minerals.
