Cuore di Marchesa Etna Bianco
A brilliant, high-altitude expression of Mount Etna, the Cuore di Marchesa Etna Bianco is a deeply mineral, energetic white wine that captures the wild spirit of Sicily's volcanic terroir. Grown at roughly 750 meters above sea level in Castiglione di Sicilia, this cuvée is predominantly Carricante, fleshed out with touches of local Catarratto and Minella Bianca. Farmed organically with biodynamic principles, the old vines are rooted deep in well-draining soils of black basalt and sand. The result is a profoundly elegant, Chablis-like white with minimal oak influence, designed to let the raw tension, vibrant acidity, and striking minerality of the volcano take center stage.
Tasting Notes
-
Appearance: A luminous, pale straw yellow with shimmering green-gold reflections.
-
Nose: Vivid and distinctly volcanic. A captivating bouquet of struck flint, sea spray, and wild mountain herbs gives way to bright notes of lime zest, crisp green apple, and a whisper of delicate apricot.
-
Palate: Electric and laser-focused. It balances a lean, energetic tension with an appealing textural grace. Vibrant acidity drives flavors of tart citrus and crunchy orchard fruit, leading into a long, mouthwatering finish defined by a profound, smoky salinity.
Perfect Pairings
This electric, high-acid white is an absolute dream for fresh, coastal cuisine. It is a brilliant match for a platter of raw seafood—think yellowtail crudo, fresh oysters, or a bright scallop ceviche. Its salty, herbaceous profile also cuts beautifully through a rich seafood paella, and it acts as an excellent foil for tangy, soft goat cheeses tossed in a vibrant summer salad.
