Style of Beer: American Wheat IPA (Single Hop)
I am from: Burlington, Vermont, USA (Crafted by Zero Gravity Craft Brewery)
The Story: Born in Burlington, Vermont, Zero Gravity began its journey brewing out of the American Flatbread brewpub before expanding to their beautiful Pine Street facility. Conehead is their flagship hero—an incredibly popular, highly accessible IPA that has become a ubiquitous staple across New England. The brewers took a refreshingly straightforward approach to this recipe, building a crisp base with Pilsner malt and a generous portion of malted wheat. The true magic, however, lies in its single-hop showcase. By exclusively using Citra hops, they perfectly capture the bright, juicy, and floral characteristics of the varietal without the aggressive, palate-wrecking bitterness found in many older-school IPAs.
Why You'll Love Me: It is a beautifully balanced, approachable IPA that acts as the perfect middle ground between a crisp wheat beer and a modern, hop-forward pale ale. It pours a lovely, slightly hazy golden-yellow in the glass with a fluffy white head. The nose instantly bursts with an inviting bouquet of ruby red grapefruit, bright lemon zest, and soft, bready malt. On the palate, it delivers a light-to-medium body with a remarkably smooth, quenching texture thanks to the wheat addition. Instead of feeling overly bitter or heavy, a lively thread of juicy citrus and ripe peach cuts beautifully through the malt, coasting into a crisp, clean finish that leaves you perfectly refreshed.
