The Story: While Bordeaux often carries a reputation for being stiff and aristocratic, Château Le Pavillon Champ Fleury is a breath of fresh air. Crafted by the talented organic winemaker Gonzague Maurice (of Château de Grandchamp), this Right Bank-style red breaks the mold. Maurice brings a relaxed, carefree attitude to his certified-organic farming, avoiding harsh chemical treatments and utilizing raw concrete vats for a clean, fruit-first vinification that lets the underlying terroir truly express itself.
Why You'll Love Me: It is incredibly warm, accessible, and smooth, offering all the classic markers of a premium Right Bank blend without the wait or the heavy price tag. You will find a dark ruby color in the glass, radiating rich, inviting aromas of ripe blackcurrants, deep black cherry, and tilled earth, all underscored by a hint of dark chocolate and vanilla bean. On the palate, the juicy Merlot provides a plush, carnal roundness, while the Cabernet Franc adds a lifted touch of fresh raspberry and subtle spice, concluding with a long, satisfying finish of gentle yet firm tannins.
