The story: In 1981, Lyeth Estate was founded in Sonoma County by Chip Lyeth. After traveling extensively in his quest for exceptional wines of the world, Chip fell in love with Cabernet Sauvignon, and quickly learned that blending in other varietals added layers of complexity to the overall wine. Over 30 years later, they are still dedicated to Chip’s vision of making outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon.
Currently, Lyeth is run by a young and talented female winemaker. A true local, Katie Carter was born and raised just five miles northwest of DeLoach Vineyards in the town of Forestville. A 2003 graduate of UC Berkeley’s Biology program, Katie’s deep love of nature and all creatures great (frogs) and small (yeast) led her to a variety of lab and field research jobs before eventually taking a harvest position -- the rest is history!
Why You'll Love Me: This is a complex wine with enticing aromas that are immediately evident as it pours from the bottle to the glass. Deep crimson in color, with raspberry and floral notes up front, this wine spreads across the palate with layers of cherry, blueberry and cocoa. Displaying a nice tannic structure, the finish reveals notes of baking chocolate and ripe plums.
