Case of Bacchus 2021 Ginger's Cuvée Pinot Noir (12 bottles)
Good for: Pouring Pinot at a party!
Grapes: Pinot Noir
I am from: Monterey, California
The story: David Gordon is one of New York's first recognized sommeliers, and has been the wine director at the city's famed Tribeca Grill since 1990. Several years ago, he began to use his contacts in Napa and Sonoma to source and produce wine under the Bacchus label. Producers such as Caymus, Lewis Cellars and Miner Family have provided the fruit and helped with the winemaking. Intially the small batches made were only sold at Tribeca Grill, Nobu and Montrachet. As consumer interest grew, he began to produce greater quantities to make the wine more available to retailers and other restaurants.
His Ginger's Cuvée Pinot Noir is a testament to the high quality of fruit at his disposal and a paean to making Pinot where fruit is the star of the show. Sourced from Monterey and regions further north, and named after David's daughter Ginger, this is a pure expression of the grape, evincing quality and value.
Why You'll Love Me: Pouring dark ruby color, this is a light to medium-bodied Pinot with aromas and flavors of raspberry, tart cherry, spice with a touch of earth. Aged eight months in neutral oak, it's supple and balanced with a smooth finish.
