The Story: Founded in 1992 by Pedro Peciña, Bodegas Hermanos Peciña is widely revered as a steadfast guardian of ultra-traditional Rioja winemaking. However, while their legendary Gran Reservas spend years evolving in old wood, this "Cosecha" (often referred to as a Joven) is their brilliant celebration of raw, youthful fruit energy. Fermented completely with native wild yeasts in stainless steel and aged for just a few months in tanks with absolutely zero oak contact, this bottle strips away the barrel "makeup." It offers a rare, crystal-clear snapshot of what high-altitude Tempranillo tastes like straight from the calcareous clay slopes of San Vicente de la Sonsierra.
Why You'll Love Me: It is incredibly fresh, juicy, and delightfully easy to drink, yet it carries far more rustic soul and character than your typical entry-level red. It pours a bright, youthful garnet-red with purple rims. The nose is a lively basket of freshly picked wild blackberries, red plums, and black raspberries, accented by charming, traditional undertones of dried rose petals, forest earth, fragrant tobacco leaf, and a distinct hint of savory balsamic. On the palate, it is medium-to-full-bodied but feels incredibly light on its feet, driven by a vibrant, integrated acidity and remarkably fine, supple tannins. It coasts into a clean, fruit-driven finish with a playful, appetizingly herbal twist that leaves you instantly ready for another sip.
