Charpentier 2022 "Tête De Cuvée" Chardonnay
Pairs with: Lobster roll
Good for: A casual evening with friends
Grape: Chardonnay
I am from: Loire Valley, France
The Story: While most folks' brains think regions other than the Loire for Chardonnay, this un-oaked example is a winner and an excellent value at the price, as well as being organic. Located southeast of the city of Nantes, Servane and Guillaume Charpentier are fifth-generation winemakers working an estate of 79 hectares that dates to in 1845. The sandy soil of their estate, which is roughly 20 kM from the Atlantic, lends itself well to arch, acid-driven wines, with Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay comprising the bulk of their plantings.
Why You'll Love Me: Crisp notes of tree fruit with bright acidity and a clean finish; this VdV exclusive is an unoaked, easy-drinking Chardonnay -- think Chablis on a budget!
