Grape: 100% Sangiovese (Sangiovese Grosso)
I am from: Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy
The Story: Founded by Gigliola Giannetti in 1993, "Le Potazzine" is the local Montalcino word for colorful little birds—an affectionate nickname given by their grandmother to Gigliola's daughters, Viola and Sofia, who now run the estate alongside her. Fiercely dedicated to traditional winemaking, they use natural wild yeasts, long macerations, and large Slavonian oak casks to craft wines of incredible purity from their prized, high-altitude vineyards.
Why You'll Love Me: It is the absolute pinnacle of traditional, elegant Sangiovese. Rather than being heavy or over-extracted, it dazzles with soaring, perfumed aromatics of crushed red cherry, wild rose petals, and subtle hints of sweet pipe tobacco. It is remarkably finessed on the palate, with precise, silky tannins and a vibrant, energetic finish that makes it drink beautifully now, yet allows it to age gracefully for decades.
