The Story: Opstal Estate’s rich history dates back to 1847 when JC Rossouw acquired the farm De Opstal bij de Fonteine. Just over a century later in 1950, the family's fourth generation, Carl Everson decided to continue making his own wine instead of joining the local co-operative winery like many other producers. Today, Opstal has a wide range of quality estate wines, and family remains important, with many of those involved in production being second and even third-generation employees.
