The Story: Cellers Unío is a wine-growing cooperative based in Catalonia, with a particular focus on the central region of Priorat, one of only two in the country to be certified as DOQ, the highest certification in use in Spain. Founded in 1942, it has been a standard-bearer for Catalan wines for generations. Named for the slate that gives the soil its distinctive color, Llicorella is a special expression -- a wine which speaks of the region's unique terroir by blending Grenache and Mazuela, the local name for Carignan. 

Why You'll Love Me: Pouring a deep cherry color, this wine beckons with aromas of black fruits, vanilla and toasted almond. The body is round and potent, and is well-concentrated with hints of marmalade and cocoa. A long, elegant finish is balanced with fine nuances from a year spent in oak.
