I am from: Columbia Valley, Washington, USA (Crafted using a premium blend of 60% old-vine Kiona Estate fruit from Red Mountain and 40% cold-climate fruit from the acclaimed Olsen Vineyard).
The Story: As one of the iconic, founding pioneer families of Washington wine history, the Williams family of Kiona Vineyards first began planting vines on the desert-dry slopes of Red Mountain back in 1975 when critics thought the area was entirely too harsh for viticulture. Decades later, their Columbia Valley Riesling serves as a gorgeous, masterfully executed testament to the region's dramatic natural climate engine, pairing intense, sun-drenched daytime heat with bone-chilling desert nights that fully ripen the fruit while locking in a piercing natural acidity. To capture maximum complexity, the family hand-harvests their foundational 50-year-old estate blocks early in the season for crispness, then blends in later-ripening components from the Olsen family vineyard to introduce luxurious tropical layers. In the cellar, the juice undergoes an ultra-clean, temperature-controlled cold fermentation entirely in stainless steel, stopping the process just before absolute dryness to preserve 18.75 g/L of natural residual sugar and trapping a microscopic, playful kiss of frizzante sparkle that naturally elevates the wine's vibrant, energetic lift.
Why You'll Love Me: It is an absolute masterclass in tension, brightness, and pure food-friendly charm—a light-bodied, wonderfully aromatic off-dry white that flawlessly balances a juicy, indulgent sweetness with a racy, lip-smacking acidity. In the glass, it pours a brilliant pale-straw yellow with youthful silver highlights dancing through the clarity. The nose is a spectacularly expressive and sunny playground, instantly launching into a fragrant bouquet of fresh white jasmine flowers, lime zest, and crisp green apples, seamlessly layered with complex undertones of ripe white peaches, honeydew melon, and a delicate hint of sweet ginger spice. On the palate, it delivers a gorgeous, texturally nimble ride, coating the tongue with a succulent, velvety volume of honeyed stone fruit and citrus confit before a driving beam of mountain-born freshness and light effervescence cuts cleanly through the residual sugar. It remains incredibly light on its feet and refreshing, gliding effortlessly across the palate before sailing into a long, mouthwatering finish highlighted by a trailing touch of mandarin orange and a clean, stone-dust mineral snap.
