Tasting wines October 26-28: Orange wines
October's the perfect month for all things orange, and as Halloween approaches, we'll be celebrating with a trio of fun orange wines! Orange wines aren't made from oranges, but from white grapes which are fermented with the skins on. This lends the resulting wines a range of colors from time spent in contact with the seeds, and a nutty, funky, even sour taste. While the tradition of wines made in this style can be traced back some 5,000 years to Georgia, it's a style that's also enjoying a renaissance of late, with producers in places as diverse as Slovenia, California and Italy embracing the funk! If you're looking for something off the beaten path, this tasting is perfect for you!
