The Story: Located between Colmar and Rouffach in Pfaffenheim, Alsace, Domaine Le Freud has worked its vines in the traditional way for many generations. The Le Freud estate has belonged to the Freudenreich family since 1730. Until 1991, the estate was run by Robert, and is now led by his son, Christophe. Christophe has played an important role in bringing the operation into the 21st century, including enlarging and modernizing the cellars. He currently cultivates nearly eight hectares of vines. Following traditions passed down from generation to generation, the soils are still worked with a plow and the wines are kept in the same wooden barrels which have helped to grow the reputation of this family estate since the 18th century.
