I am from: Montpelier, Vermont, USA
The Story: Born from a deep reverence for the land and a fierce commitment to local agriculture, this highly unconventional craft spirit is a benchmark producer from Caledonia Spirits—handcrafted on the banks of the pristine Winooski River. Vermont is legendary because it holds America’s most vibrant, nature-first agricultural heritage, fueled here by pure northern spring water and a passion for supporting vital honeybee pollinators. While almost every vodka on earth relies on cheap, industrial grains like wheat, rye, or corn, Barr Hill completely shatters the template by distilling its vodka entirely from $100\%$ raw, unpasteurized northern wildflower honey. It takes roughly three to four pounds of pure honey to produce just a single bottle. Disregarding mass-market production lines that distill spirits to total neutrality, the distillers ferment the raw honey with wild yeasts and distill it only twice in a custom copper pot and column system, deliberately preserving the natural, ethereal aromatics of the hive.
Why You'll Love Me: It balances a remarkably bright, crisp cleanliness with an incredibly seductive, creamy and floral-nectar edge. Defying the old-school notion that vodka should be completely odorless and tasteless, it bursts from the glass with lively aromas of soft wildflower nectar, subtle vanilla bean, fresh-baked bread, and a hint of warm beeswax. On the palate, it delivers a beautiful, uncommonly full and viscous medium-to-full body that is instantly cut by a laser-beam core of delicate citrus peel and a whisper of white pepper spice. It gracefully sweeps into a long, complex finish defined by a mouthwatering buttery smoothness, a touch of elegant honeyed sweetness, and a signature hint of clean, lingering herbal warmth.
