The Story: Casa Vinicola Natale Verga is a masterclass in century-old Italian family tradition. The estate's rich history traces all the way back to 1895, when patriarch Enrico Verga first founded the company. For over four generations, this authentic passion for winemaking has been carefully passed down from father to son, evolving the business from a hyper-local countryside venture into a highly efficient, globally admired powerhouse of premium, accessible Italian wines. Today, the modern beating heart of the estate is masterfully steered by Natale Verga, working in active, close collaboration with his sisters, Cristina and Laura, alongside the up-and-coming fifth generation of the Verga clan.

While the family’s cutting-edge, state-of-the-art bottling facility is located in Cermenate (near Lake Como), they head directly to the sun-drenched, rolling hillside vineyards of the Asti region in Piedmont to source their prized, aromatic Moscato Bianco grapes. To craft this ultra-festive, joyful sparkler, the winemaking team completely skips the standard heavy-extraction process. Instead, they use a highly specialized, temperature-controlled variation of the Martinotti/Charmat tank method. The fresh grape juice is kept at near-freezing temperatures until needed, then allowed to undergo a single, incredibly gentle fermentation. The moment the alcohol level reaches a light, refreshing 5% and the pressure creates the perfect, soft sparkle, the fermentation is chilled down to an absolute halt. This brilliant technique seals in the grape's pure, unadulterated natural sugars and captures a delightful, tongue-tingling fizz straight from the vineyard.

Why You'll Love Me: It is ethereally light, aromatically explosive, and satisfyingly sweet—a classic frizzante (lightly sparkling) masterpiece that wraps your palate in a luscious embrace without ever feeling heavy, syrupy, or cloying. In the glass, it pours a beautiful, clear straw-yellow color accented by a delicate, frothy mousse of tiny bubbles. The nose is a spectacularly expressive and fragrant playground, instantly flooding the room with a highly inviting bouquet of fresh elderflowers, orange blossom, and wild acacia honey, beautifully layered with succulent top notes of ripe field peaches, bruised apricots, and crisp red apples. On the palate, it strikes with a delightfully plush, medium-bodied sweetness that effortlessly coats the tongue with juicy orchard fruit and citrus oils. Yet, it remains wonderfully light on its feet and refreshing; a vibrant, clean beam of natural acidity instantly cuts through the residual sugars, washing the palate entirely clean and leaving a long, fragrant, and mouthwatering trail of floral sweetness that practically begs for another chilled sip.
