Grape: 100% Chardonnay.

I am from: Anderson Valley, Mendocino County, California, USA (Sourced from estate vineyard sites planted with Dijon clones and heritage selections across the cool, fog-shrouded valley corridor near the Pacific Ocean).

The Story: Crafted under the winemaking direction of Domaine Anderson's Darrin Low—and backed by the classic winemaking heritage of Maison Louis Roederer—Carpe Diem was created to bridge two distinct wine philosophies: the generous fruit purity of California and the elegant structural tension of French white Burgundy. The grapes are sustainably grown across cool-climate vineyard sites in the Anderson Valley, where daily Pacific breezes and heavy morning fog slow the ripening process, allowing the fruit to develop deep phenolic complexity while retaining high natural acidity.

In the cellar, the winemaking team picks the fruit at night to lock in crispness before whole-cluster pressing. Fermentation takes place predominantly in French oak barrels (using only about 20% new oak to avoid heavy wood influence), with a portion fermented in stainless steel tanks to maintain bright aromatics. Following a slow, natural malolactic fermentation, the wine rests on its fine lees for ten months. This delicate oak integration and patient lees aging endows the wine with a silky, mouth-coating weight that gracefully balances its vibrant coastal acidity.

Why You'll Love Me: It is a brilliantly poised, silky, and harmonious Chardonnay that pairs vibrant stone-fruit radiance with a subtle, toasted-hazelnut warmth and mouthwatering coastal freshness. In the glass, it gleams a pale straw-gold hue with pale green glints. The nose opens with an inviting bouquet of ripe Bosc pear, honeydew melon, and fresh lemon curd, elegantly framed by top notes of roasted hazelnut, orange blossom, and a whisper of warm brioche. On the palate, it glides with a smooth, medium-bodied stride; succulent flavors of white nectarine, crisp yellow apple, and grilled peach are buffered by a satiny lees mouthfeel and lifted by a driving beam of citrus acidity. Clean, refined, and endlessly drinkable, it glides into a long finish marked by a trailing touch of lemon zest, subtle baking spice, and a persistent, stone-dust mineral snap.
