I am from: Mendoza, Argentina (Sourced from high-altitude estate vineyards climbing between 2,600 and 3,900 feet above sea level, nourished by pure Andean snowmelt).

The Story: Marcelo Bocardo is a third-generation Mendocino winemaker whose lineage is deeply rooted in the soil. As the descendant of an Italian immigrant family, he spent his childhood trailing his father and grandfather through the cellars. His grandfather clearly recognized his early talent, officially putting a 12-year-old Marcelo in charge of managing two prized vineyard rows. After spending years expanding his horizons as a head winemaker for major corporate labels, Marcelo decided it was time to reclaim his independence. In 2001, he founded Proemio Wines, and later purchased a certified organic vineyard planted on untouched, virgin soils.

When his son Nicolás joined the family business, Marcelo launched a highly personal, namesake line of wines designed to showcase the unadulterated truth of Mendoza's terroir. For his signature everyday Malbec, Marcelo completely throws out the industrial playbook that relies on heavy wood adjustments. Instead, the hand-harvested grapes undergo a completely un-oaked vinification, fermenting and aging entirely inside raw concrete vats. It is a minimalist approach focused on absolute transparency, ensuring the raw energy of the mountain fruit arrives in your glass entirely unmasked.

Why You'll Love Me: It is incredibly juicy, bright, and effortlessly smooth—a remarkably refreshing Malbec that trades heavy, syrupy extraction for an athletic frame and pure fruit intensity. In the glass, it pours a vivid, translucent ruby-purple with a youthful violet rim. The nose is spectacularly expressive and highly inviting, bursting with an energetic basket of black cherries, ripe dark plums, and wild blueberries, seamlessly interwoven with subtle nuances of green garden herbs, a faint hint of dark mocha, and a pleasing undercurrent of wet stones. On the palate, it delivers a beautifully balanced, medium-bodied experience. Because there is zero wood interference, the crunchy fruit notes glide across the tongue with absolute purity, framed by remarkably supple, silky tannins and a vibrant line of freshness that leaves the palate feeling entirely revitalized.
