I am from: Ferguson Valley, Geographe, Western Australia, Australia.

The Story: In 1996, Jeff and Vicki Dewar went on an exhaustive search across Western Australia to find the absolute perfect vineyard site, eventually falling completely under the spell of a spectacular, rolling 180-hectare hillside property in the Ferguson Valley. Nestled inside the Geographe wine region—named after the coastal bay first mapped by French explorer Nicolas Baudin in 1801—this brilliant sub-zone shares the cooling, maritime breath of nearby Margaret River but packs just enough solar engine to drive magnificent fruit concentration.

The estate is a model of contemporary, hands-on sustainability: the entire property runs on solar energy, all wastewater is meticulously recycled, and the natural forest groves of massive native eucalyptus trees have been carefully preserved to foster thriving biodiversity.

For their highly popular "Dragonfly" range, the winemaking team focuses on capturing pure, unadulterated varietal joy. The fruit is sourced from prized estate blocks planted in 1998—vines that have spent nearly three decades sinking their roots deep into "Marri" soils composed of ironstone gravelly loam over friable clay. Perched at elevations up to 280 meters above sea level, the grapes are shielded from blistering daytime heat by refreshing Indian Ocean breezes. In the cellar, the juice is cradled gently and matured in a thoughtful mosaic of new and seasoned French oak hogshead barrels, trading heavy, wood-driven extraction for an elegant, velvety framework.

Why You'll Love Me: It is wonderfully juicy, highly perfumed, and texturally complete—a modern Australian Shiraz that throws out the old-school book of jammy, high-octane heat in favor of an athletic, medium-bodied frame and crisp alpine energy. In the glass, it pours a beautiful, deep ruby-purple color with bright violet rims. The nose is exceptionally vibrant and detailed, instantly greeting you with a fragrant bouquet of fresh blueberries, wild raspberries, and black plums, seamlessly layered with complex undertones of toasted vanilla bean, cracked black pepper, wild herbs, and a highly intriguing whisper of anise and fennel. On the palate, it delivers a beautifully rounded, supple, and mouth-filling embrace. Its succulent core of blue and dark forest fruits is effortlessly held aloft by a clean vein of natural acidity and a fine, lingering spine of chalky tannins. It glides seamlessly across the tongue before pulling into a remarkably long, fresh finish marked by a velvety texture and a subtle, savory trail of baking spices.
