💬 Get to Know Jeff

How did you get started in the world of wine?
Back in 1995, while studying for a Master’s in English at Simmons College, I took a job as a wine driver for Fine Wine Cellars on Stuart Street in Boston. I fell in love with wine retail right there — I’d taste wines when I wasn’t driving and taught myself by reading and tasting. I later opened my own food and wine shop in Concord, MA in 2007 and ran it for over 18 years. I deeply understand the challenges and rewards of running a wine retail business.

What do you love most about working at Vinodivino?
I’ve only been here two weeks, but I already enjoy the freedom to run the shop and be creative. I’m looking forward to building meaningful relationships in the Newton community.

What’s special about your Vinodivino location and community?
Even in my short time here, I can tell there’s a loyal following in Newton. Customers here are open to quality wines at a higher price point and often purchase in volume — a great sign of trust and engagement.

Got a go-to bottle under $25 you always recommend?
Absolutely: Château Beauchêne Le Terroir Côtes du Rhône — $24. A great everyday wine that overdelivers.

Any wine tips for curious customers or first-timers?
Drink what you like — don’t feel pressured to always match food. Start with what brings you joy in the glass.

Outside of wine, what do you enjoy doing?
I collect records, play vinyl, drum with my jazz band, play tennis and golf, and love body surfing in Rhode Island. Jazz is a big part of my life — I'm a jazz history savant and a crack drummer.
