Raina Trebbiano Spoleto 2021
Pairs with: Lemon butter pasta
Good for: The last alfresco dinner of the year
Grape: Trebbiano Spoleto
I am from: Umbria, Italy
The Story: Chef and winemaker Francesco Mariani makes wines from biodynamic grapes. Together with assistant Andrea Mattioli, he tends to 10 hectares of vineyards in Umbria, a region encircling Perugia in the center of the country. In 2022 they decided to leave the DOC circuit -- all of their wines are thus intentionally certified as IGT Umbria, allowing them more freedom to craft the best wines the way the team see fit.
Why You'll Love Me: I am light and citrus-driven, with notes of meyer lemon, pear and orange blossoms. Eight days of skin contact lend a crisper note to the finish, with vegetal notes comingling with a latent minerality.
