The story: Based around a 300-year old estate, Morgenster became a stellar wine producer in the hands of Giulio Bertrand. Born in Italy, he fell in love with the soils of Stellenbosch. Today, his daughters continue to produce wine and olive oils that are uniquely South African.
In your mouth: Notes of dried oregano and red pepper flakes waft from the glass, buoyed by my bright raspberry tones. On the palate, my fruit darkens to cassis, graphite minerality cutting through soft fruit. Smooth tannins accentuate a touch of smoke, leaving you wanting more.
