Josef & Philipp Brundlmayer 2021 Riesling Kaiserstiege
Good for: Playing cornhole with friends on the lawn during a clear, sunny day.
I am from: Kremstal, Austria
The story: A family operation started 3 generations ago, now in the hands of the grandson, Philipp Bründlmayer. The business strives to not be machine operators. As a result, many of the steps in the winegrowing process are completed by hand, using techniques passed down from one generation to the next: they plant greenery to ensure diversity and fertile ground, and to preserve the integrity of the vineyards. They take the time to harvest by hand - trimming each vine individually to ensure that the grapes have the perfect combination of shade, sun, and wind. “We prefer old vines as they grow the best grapes.” They respect their intrinsic value and prune them gently, by hand. Each row in the vineyard is showered with attention and the grapes are only harvested once they a truly ready. They set the foundation for the quality they expect, allowing every single one of their vineyards to give its very best.
Why you’ll love me: Crystal-clear and precise, straightforward and lively. Mineral aromas lend their weight to apricot and peach fruit. Taut and cool, delicate and elegant.
